Over ten years ago, Pastor John Chirchir and his dear wife, Mary, started taking orphans into their own home in the poverty stricken village of Mara Moja, Naibor.

They lived in a mudwalled hut, which they expanded to accommodate their growing family of orphans. They built other mud huts as needed to accommodate the growing need.

These orphans might be poor, but they are the happiest kids you’d ever meet! John and Mary sincerely love these kids and have hearts as big as the moon! They treat these kids as their very own, and systematically teach them God’s word in daily devotions and in lifestyle example.

They have sacrificed much, personally, in order to feed, clothe, educate, and most of all, disciple these orphans.

God has provided a number of other concerned people who are partnering with Pastor Chirchir — such as the HALO foundation, and some terrific individuals who continue to give so that the facilities can be upgraded slowly.

God willing, we hope to have a suitable piece of land upon which we can build a permanent and more secure orphanage facility.

Mara Moja village is a danger place. Last December, right at Christmastime, a band of violent cattle rustlers swept through the village! The few cows which Pastor John had for providing milk for the orphans were stolen. (With the help of neighboring ranchers, the rustlers were tracked down and the cattle recovered! But, in the process, one of the older orphans, who is now an adult and faithful evangelist, Julius Korir, lost his eye in the battle.

The new orphanage site will provide a much more secure place for the orphanage, and even provide facilities for vocational training and medical services, etc.
