\"Kenya<\/a>This nation of more than 30 million people has one of the world’s fastest growing populations, with an average age of about 15 years.<\/p>\n

Kenya lies across the equator in east-central Africa on the coast of the Indian Ocean. It is almost the size of Texas. The land is mostly arid. Kenya has a wide varieties of climates: Hot and humid along the Coastal strip; Hot, dry deserts in the North, and cool highlands in the West and Central regions.<\/p>\n

Kenya is world-famous for it’s wildlife, stunning scenery, and friendly people.<\/p>\n

Until 1963 Kenya was a British colony and part of British East Africa. Since gaining independence in 1963, Kenya has been governed by a parliamentary democracy. Kenya has a strong, free enterprise economy, which has made it the economic hub of East-central Africa. Since independence, the government has placed a high priority on education, and basic schooling is now available to virtually all children, except for the most remote areas, resulting in a higher than average literacy rate for Africa.<\/p>\n

Languages: Swahili is the National Language, English is the Official language, and most people know at least one other tribal language.<\/p>\n

Religions: About 70% are Nominal Christians; 7% still follow traditional religions. About 20% of the population embraces Islam, which is growing rapidly across East Africa. The final 3% is divided among other oriental religions (Hindu, Sikh, etc.)<\/p>\n
